Penny Pot County Park in Folsom, NJ, on 8th St, 2/10 of a mile north of Black Horse Pike (Rt 322)
Have fun and do good at the same time! The Great Egg Harbor River is officially designated as a
National Scenic & Recreational River. It is a lovely Pine Barrens river with a gentle current and
some narrow, twisty sections. Unfortunately it gets a lot of rental traffic during the summer from
folks who do not appreciate and respect Mother Naure as much as we do. On Oct. 14th we'll paddle 10 leisurely
miles from Penny Pot County Park to historic Weymouth Furnace County Park in Mays Landing. Along the way we'll
pick up floating debris on/in the river and along the banks - mostly cans, bottles, and paper trash.
This will be strictly a boat-based clean-up; we won't be getting out of our boats to wrestle with sunken
tires or anything like that. Grabbers, gloves, and trash bags will be supplied by the ACUA
(Atlantic County Utilities Authority), Atlantic County Parks will dispose of the refuse we collect,
and Palace Restaurant & Outfitter will show their appreciation by providing free pizza for our end-of-day
celebration.
